The Rebbe's Havdala (audio)

By popular request, here is a recording of the Rebbe, shlit"a, making Havdala. Starting with G-t Fin Avrohom, Havdala and then the traditional piyut, "Hamavdil", customarily sung every Motzei Shabbos following Havdala. DOWNLOAD

Why doesnt the Rebbe, shlit"a, recite Got Fin Avrohom in its entirety?

Hi Ben,
I don't know the exact history of Gott Fin Avrohom. It is commonly beleived that the Kedushas Levi wrote it, but the truth is that it was around a long time before that. The Berditchever praised its recital highly and Rebbe Pinchas of Koritz said that we specifically say it in Yiddish as an intermediate stage between the holiness of Shabbos and the mundane days of the week. Yiddish, being not as holy as Loshon Hakodesh and yet not entirely pedestrian like regular goyishe languages, is appropriate for such an in-between stage.

I think the nusach that the Rebbe uses may come from Kantikuziv (Reb Leibele's father-in-law). The Rebbe's father used that nusach as well (if not almost identical). I'm pretty sure I have seen similar, short versions in other old siddurim and sources.
